What is a Meta Business Account and Why You Need It for ChatFlow

Overview

A Meta Business Account (also called Meta Business Manager or Business Portfolio) is a free platform provided by Meta (the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp). It allows businesses to manage their WhatsApp Business API access, message templates, phone numbers, and team permissions — all in one place.

To use ChatFlow for WhatsApp messaging, you must have a Meta Business Account connected to a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).

For the latest information, refer to Meta's official documentation:

What is Meta Business Manager?

Meta Business Manager (now called Meta Business Suite or Business Portfolio) is a centralized dashboard where you can:

- Manage one or more WhatsApp Business Accounts
- Add and manage phone numbers for WhatsApp API
- Create and submit message templates for Meta approval
- Add team members and assign roles
- Monitor messaging quality and account health
- Access billing and usage reports

Why Do You Need It for ChatFlow?

ChatFlow connects to WhatsApp through the official WhatsApp Cloud API provided by Meta. This means:

1. You must have a verified Meta Business Account to use the WhatsApp API
2. Your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) must be linked to your Meta Business Manager
3. All message templates used in campaigns must be approved by Meta through your Business Manager
4. Your phone number must be registered and verified inside Meta Business Manager

Without a Meta Business Account, ChatFlow cannot send or receive WhatsApp messages on your behalf.

Key Terms to Know

- Meta Business Manager: The main dashboard at business.facebook.com
- WhatsApp Business Account (WABA): Your WhatsApp business profile managed inside Meta
- Business Portfolio: Meta's newer term for what was previously called Business Manager
- Phone Number ID: The unique identifier for your registered WhatsApp number
- WhatsApp Business Account ID (WABA ID): Required when connecting your account to ChatFlow

Who Needs This?

Both ChatFlow customers (businesses using ChatFlow) and vendors (resellers/partners setting up ChatFlow for clients) need a Meta Business Account to activate WhatsApp messaging capabilities.
